Debut of All Terrain Brain - a Multimedia Project
"Have you ever wondered why some people are so successful--whether at life or running their own business? Entrepreneurs achieve success by believing in the power of their ideas, having the confidence to take risks and to fail, persevering and overcoming obstacles, and finding new and better ways to solve problems. How do these characteristics develop? And most importantly, can you instill them in the kids you work with at your afterschool or youth program? The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation and Three Chicks Media are pleased to bring you All Terrain Brain (ATB), a unique multimedia project designed to encourage kids ages 8 to 12 to take their brains "off road" and tap into their entrepreneurial spirit. Through a series of 25 animated 1-minute videos, an interactive web site, and an educational outreach initiative, ATB will help kids discover they have the power to do whatever they want in life, whether they become entrepreneurs or simply gain a greater understanding of their own abilities. WGBH Boston is creating the Team ATB Activity Guide for youth leaders.
The Team ATB Activity Guide for youth leaders is coming soon! This 40-page guide provides:
• Engaging minds-on and hands-on activities: Kids have fun as they explore the 25 ATB entrepreneurial concepts and discover what it means to be an entrepreneur.
• Instructions for youth leaders on how to organize and run a Team ATB club and resources to support their efforts.
• A DVD that contains all 25 ATB videos. Each video focuses on a key entrepreneurial concept, such as sense of self, strength in individuality, passion, goal setting, problem solving, learning through failure, and more.
The Team ATB Activity Guide & DVD will be available in December 2007 and will be distributed for free to afterschool programs nationwide while supplies last. If you would like to receive this invaluable resource, please complete the downloadable form and e-mail to allterrainbrain@wgbh.org.
We are looking for 15 afterschool programs to pilot activities from the Team ATB Activity Guide in early 2008. Pilot sites will receive a $500 stipend for conducting activities at their site and will be asked to complete an evaluation form at the end of each unit. If you are interested in piloting ATB activities at your program, please check off the box at the bottom of the request form."
