Resources for summer program teaching and learning strategies and technology integration
For those who are busy with planning for summer program activities, YouthLearn staff strongly recommend two relevant resources: "Lessons Learned in Summer Programs," and "Summer Programs Tips & Tricks," which were produced in 2004 and 2005 by the YouthLearn team for the ITEST Learning Resource Center at EDC. In these publications, you will find ITEST projects' insights about innovative technology use and teaching methods in summer program activities that can inform program design and practices of other informal science education programs.
Lessons Learned in Summer Programs [September 2004]
[Reflecting on Informal Teaching Methodologies and Innovative Uses of Technology]
This publication was intended to capture strategies and lessons learned regarding informal teaching methodologies and innovative uses of technology.
Summer Programs Tips & Tricks [June 2005]
To support project staff launching or embarking on summer programs again this year, this Idea Brief summarizes the strategies and lessons learned by four Cohort 1 projects - which are captured in the Lessons Learned publication on the ITEST LRC website. Their insights about technology use and teaching methods in summer program activities are documented in their own words in the hopes that they can inform program design and practices in other ITEST projects and beyond.
