Fostering Family Partnerships

"Turning Points, a comprehensive school reform initiative for middle schools, has just released a new guide titled Creating Partnerships, Bridging Worlds: Family and Community Engagement. One middle school featured in the guide hosts 'Family Story' mornings in which students' shared stories relating to an important family tradition, experience, or activity. As follow-up, stories and photographs of families adorn the walls in the main office, attesting to the diverse traditions and strengths of the schools' families. The guide is filled with practical strategies for emphasizing family strengths, creating partnerships, and promoting equity."
